14U Girls Pot o' Gold Tournament

The Carpinteria United Girls Soccer Team returned from the April 14th-15th Pot O’ Gold tournament in Moorpark with the Championship Title.

The team played their first two games on Saturday starting with a 2-0 win against Encino and a 1-1 draw against Canyon Country.  On Sunday, Carpinteria United played a highly physical game against Sagus and secured a spot in the finals with a 2-2 draw gaining a late equalizer in added time. In the Championship, a battle against Granada Hills ended with a 2-1 victory delivering a late goal in the remaining 10 seconds of the game drawing overwhelming excitement from fans and players alike.

“Going into this weekend’s tournament, our primary goal was to stay focused.  We knew that if we could tap into the mental aspect of the game by maintaining confidence, smart play, and patience, we could come home with the gold.  These girls put on their game faces and, in the end, accomplished their goal.”  Commented Coaches Marc Medina, Diego Gamez, and Michele Lounsbury
