U12 Program

The U12 Fall Program is for boys and girls who will be 10 or 11 as of next December 31st.

The U12 Program runs for eight game weekends starting in September (see calendar page) with practices starting in August. U12 Teams participate weekly training sessions and a U12 Game on Saturdays.  There may be U12 games scheduled on Picture Day. Teams are gender specific. There is 1-hour weekly training session on weekdays twice a week. Games in the U12 Program are officiated under FIFA Laws of the Game with approved youth modifications for small sided games and substitution policies.

U12 Teams will travel to Santa Barbara for some of the League Games.

Region League Playoffs are immediately following regular season. All U12 teams that provide basic volunteer support for their team will qualify for additional Region League Playoff games regardless of their competitive record. Up to two Carpinteria U12 Teams of each gender will advance to Area League Playoffs in early December based on the competitive results of Region League Playoffs.

All U12 Parents are strongly encouraged to support all the players on their child's U10 team by planning their schedule to allow their child to participate and contribute to their team during Area League Playoffs in early December.

Players are placed on teams of up to 12 players. U12 teams compete with nine players, one of which is a goalkeeper. Each player plays at least half of every game. Players receive a uniform consisting of a numbered jersey, shorts and socks. Players must wear shin guards and shoes. Soccer cleats are recommended.

U12 Teams requires a parent volunteer for each assignment of Team Coach, Assistant Coach, and Team Manager (Team Parent). Basic volunteer support for the team  will require two parents to volunteer as Regional Referees. Together both Referees will select a minimum number of required game assignments based on their individual calendar, schedule, comfort level, and interest over the coursed of the 8-week U12 Fall Program Schedule. U8 Game Official assignments, Assistant Referee assignments, and Center Referee Assignments are available for credit to the minimum team assignment requirements that are part of the basic volunteer support needed for each team.

An annual AYSO Volunteer application and one-time Safe Haven Certification is required for all Carpinteria AYSO Volunteers. Carpinteria AYSO U12 Team Coaches and Assistant Coaches must also complete a U12 Coach Course. Regional Referees must also complete a Basic Referee Course.
