Health and Safety Guidelines

Hello AYSO Families:

You may have heard that Los Angeles County has implemented new guidance and COVID-19 testing requirements for youth sports programs. At this time, Santa Barbara County Public Health has NOT implemented specific requirements for youth sports and the guidance provided by California Department of Public Health is no longer in effect. COVID information and guidance changes often. Region staff will do our best to alert all participants, volunteers, and parents if /when Santa Barbara County changes their guidance.

Carpinteria AYSO is asking all parents and volunteers to review and adhere to the Player Symptom Decision Tree (courtesy of Ventura County) that is posted on carpsoccer.org, as well as at El Carro Park and Viola Fields.

  • If your child feels sick and/or exhibits ANY low or high-risk symptoms listed on the Player Symptom Decision Tree, please keep them home.
  • No player may participate in the program within 10 days of a positive COVID test.

We also ask that snacks are individually packaged or pre-packaged only.

  • Halftime snack ideas include Clementine oranges, applesauce or other fruit pouches, yogurt tubes or pouches (recommend freezing beforehand), prepackaged baby carrots or fresh fruit, or fresh fruit placed in individual baggies.
  • Post-game snack ideas include prepackaged pretzels, popcorn, Goldfish crackers, granola bars, cereal bars, string cheese, etc.
  • Players should use hand sanitizer before eating.
  • Providing napkins can also reduce the transmission of germs.

The usual team huddles, high fives, and parent tunnels that take place after games should be replaced with players lining up and clapping for the opposing team until further notice.

Region Health and Safety Information, as well as Return to Play Participation Releases and Incident Reports can be found on the Region’s website.

AYSO’s Return to Play Guidelines provides some additional information as well.
